I have never been completely homeless, but I lived in a homeless shelter when I first turned 18 because my foster parents threw me out. They were only in it for the money, and once I turned eighteen, they stopped getting paid from the state for taking care of me.

I lived in a homeless shelter for a few months and then I met my boyfriend (not from the homeless shelter, thank goodness). I now live with him, and have been for three years now, but not OFF of him. I got a job shortly after moving in with him and pay my half of the rent. I don't believe in taking advantage of people.

I have never been homeless. Thankfully, I have always had a place to rest my head.

Consider the fluctuating U.S. economy and my own mishaps financially, I do not take this truth lightly.

Anyone can be homeless if a series of misfortunes happen to him or her.

The unfortunate answer is yes. In the past couple of years, actually. I moved back in with my parents to help them out with bills and stuff. My mom had told me they needed an extra income and that they were kind of tight on money. I agreed and packed up my apartment and my girlfriend and my son and we moved into the huge house that my parents owned in the country. What my mom did not tell me was that they were struggling with the mortgage and had been for a really long time. So about a year or so after we moved in, she came into my bedroom to tearfully tell me that they had lost the house that my dad had built with his hands due to foreclosure. The house would be going up for auction in a few weeks after that. I was stunned and pretty angry. I didn't say any of that to her. I just hugged her and told her it would all be okay. My little family and I went back to the city and stayed with my grandparents for a little while while we looked for a place for everyone. We finally found a rental house and paid the deposit. So my parents then moved over 20 years of stuff from the huge country house into a tiny rental. It sucked. Right now, my son, girlfriend and I have our new house we've had since last year and my parents are living around the block (they just moved again actually). So yeah, homelessness sucks and it's scary. My parents still struggle and I worry they might end up in the same boat all over again someday. Fingers crossed, I guess.

I have never been homeless but my best friend had lost her home by fire. I know pretty much how she felt and what she went through to get back her own place. Luckily she didn't have to sleep on the street with her kids. That would have been too much.

Fortunately I've never been homeless and no one in my family or close friends have been either.

As a child I was homeless ....Although I always had a place to lay my head (aunts homes, caring friends) We didn't have a place of our own till I was 15 due to my mother suffering from alcoholism. Today I cherish my home..probably because I know what it feels like not to have anything of your own.
