indeed mothered made a whole blog post about how flawed the method is in´it's premise. tbh I kinda have a distaste for it aswell now, as I like the acting on the phone part the most about SE. I can probably save the failed FTID though, at least for one of the 2 repairs that is.

I'm not suggesting It fails every time - In fact I've also discussed methodologies on Its success, but put simply, It relies on the stupidity, laziness and Incapacity of those handling the shipment to succeed.

UPDATE:
new rep today told me that the package is still not there, which is in stark contrast to the rep from 2 days ago telling me they only wait for repair parts. They opened an investigation with ups now. hope I dont get fucked. just have to stick to the story of me doing everything they asked me to I guess.

thinking about just dropping one of the companies and trying to close the investigation.
they have my real data as I literally own the device.
Just saying something like, " oh I found the device still lying around here, I must've forgotten it bc I was stressed that day".
Maybe the best way to get out of getting into legal trouble.
FTID service told me they changed all data though. doesnt change the fact that the repair is still linked to my real identity no? @mothered any suggestions on how to proceed?

If their findings establish that the label has been altered, simply plead Ignorance.

I told the one company, of which I actually own the item, that I received my item today via UPS. they halted the investigation and repair status. was too risky as my real name was involved.
Funnily enough, the other company called me and told me that UPS cannot find my device and another department will call me in the next few days offering a new device or other compensation methods.
So the FTID turned into an LIT. I'm very lucky to be able to get this result, so whatever you do, don't use boxing services unless you 100% trust your contact!
Ofc the boxing service told me it's all good since I made the failed FTID from them work LOL.
NEVER using one again!

I had 1 ftid turn into a lit and it was an almost similar situation, someone contacted me with the replacement tracking #.
