We occasionally get a couple weeks where it's too hot in the summer, and it's not normal to have AC in your home. Every summer I have to soak a big towel in water, use it as a blanket with a floor fan blasting at me on the highest setting. It's the only way I could sleep. Sometimes that wasn't enough and we're not talking particularly crazy temps. Anything above 23 centigrade is uncomfortable for me though. The best temp for me is about 19C xDI fully understand what you mean. I also act In a similar way with wet towels and fans operating at full speed. Good lord, and is that without AC?! Due to the motor/compressor affixed to the external part of the building, the body corporate does not allow Installing an AC. When the heat gets In, you can Imagine how hot It gets In a solid brick apartment. Does it not reach illegal temperatures then? Also, why does the unit fixed to the building mean you can't fit further units? Is there not enough space? Is there not enough space? They use an Idiotic excuse, that the external building will look very ugly with every unit having a motor/compressor fixed to the wall. How's that for complete nonsense? So aesthetics matters more than the health of residents? Interesting... I suspect you could take that up legally, but that's a whole other fight. I guess another solution is purchasing one of those AC units connected to the window? I bet they're nice and comfortable with the AC on In their luxury homes. The rear of the AC will be sitting on the external window, which Is no different to being attached to the external brickwork. The costs of pursuing something like this is ridiculous. Is there not a local council authority that it could be taken up with, or is this only lawsuit territory? Oh, sorry, I meant the portable ones where the exhaust goes to the window. Not the one that is mounted in the window. ![]() They're not the most ideal solution, but if they're allowed they might be worth a shot. It Is actually allowed and I've borrowed one from a friend a while back, but given my apartment Is huge, It did very little to cool It down. Perhaps the unit Itself wasn't powerful enough, so I'll need to research whether there Is one suitable to the size of my living area. That's a fair point! Or do you have a smaller room with a window? Then you could have at least one room with respite from the heat haha. I was always focused on cooling the main rooms, so I'll certainly look Into your suggestion. |
