It's impossible for staff to check every thread, as it would take a lifetime to look at the hundreds of thousands of posts we have. Though it's one of the milder offenses, we encourage people to report threads with short links. We also appreciate it when people provide direct links for those threads, so the content is still accessible for everyone.

how can you say impossible , you must check [snip], [snip] they have million of traffic in there forum , it rarely you will find shortlink there...because of strictness.how they managing then ... and recently [snip] implelement a plugin to stop short link....it automatically scan...or you can make condition like mega.nz , anonfile only allowed so forum wont take any shortlink etc etc...

I said "it's impossible for staff to check every thread", which is true. Over 8 years, the sites people use for shortlinks/revenue have changed and they will continue to. A plugin can filter shortlinks and block them based on a list. Even that has limitations.
I'll give the situation some more thought. However, I'm more likely to implement a post count or upgrade requirement. A bunch of public combolists probably aren't useful to anyone, so I've been debating the necessity of the section itself.

I think he's pressing the point of using a plug-in. He's essentially saying, if we staff can't keep on top of it, we need the plug-in.
Keep in mind, this is not a section that SL is particularly invested in, and we have questioned its place on our board.
@fsociety We understand your concerns, and we will look into solutions. However, a plug-in is not ideal for us. Other sites may use them, but we are SL and not them. We've offered our explanations for why we don't want to add yet another plug-in to the forum. We are not going to ignore this suggestion, but please bear with us while we come to a solution that works for us. In the meantime, please report any shortlinks that you find from now on, while we make our decisions. This board isn't run by overlords - We're a community, and the community is every bit a part of making SL the great place it is.
We ALWAYS check reports (special thanks to Mothered for being so quick with those), and take action on them as necessary.
