For obvious reasons.

As already stated:
Quote:Cutting a hole "slightly larger", justifies that someone can In fact slide the AirPod box out of the package and steal It.

All the more reason for the carrier to Identify It's been tampered with on collection. The bigger the tear, the more likely It's noticed.

Why "cut through all the tape on one side" (thus susceptible to being noticed), when you can make a small tear (with minimal visibility) that's just enough for the Items/box dimensions?

Moreover and stating the obvious, anyone who steals It In transit, Is not going to sit there and make sure the entire tape Is cut. They'd be as fast as possible- that Is, without precision.

Got it. I guess we have different thought processes on it.
I always thought of it as hiding in plain sight. Personally I think a small cut (showing signs of tampering) is more noticeable than the entire side being cut. If the entire side is cut, it appears more like I simply forgot to put something in the box so I just cut it open again. Instead of being tampered with minimally, it's just user error. For me it seems more realistic for somebody to slide a box cutter down the entire line of tape and yank whatever's inside, instead of just big enough to slide a hand in, hope whatever item is inside will fit through the hole, and then try to pull it out.

But as I'm sure you've had lots of success with your method, and I've had lots of success with my method, I suppose both work equally work.
One of the very first things I observe when receiving Inwards goods, Is any signs of tampering. If all Is well, the package Is scanned and entered In our Inventory.

A small tear on the bottom/edge of the package that's very well concealed (yet consistent with tampering), Is a lot more difficult to notice than the entire side of the package being taped from edge to edge. The latter hits me In face, so to speak.
