What did you say to them? That you went to the post office and there was nothing there? or what

The chatbot later told me to check with my neighbors, and I said that I checked and it still wasn't there. No mention of a post office. No questions from the human.
If they had actually started asking serious questions, my backup plan was to say my room-mate had picked it up but forgot to tell me. Basically, I was acting as if I was unaware it had been sent to or picked up from a post office.
