RE: What anti-virus program do you use? - reGEN - 04-13-2019 Did some research into AV internals recently. I'd advise you to not use AVG, Avast, or Bitdefender. They use unreliable methods for their real-time monitoring detection systems which can be bypassed incredibly easily. Though this usually only applies to hackers with sufficient technical abilities, the information on how to bypass is publicly available. As for Malwarebytes, I am currently investigating its internals and may keep you guys posted on what I find. This is technical advice, so things about spamming your computer with random notifications and other nonsense I've no idea about. Kaspersky is rumored to be collaborating with Russian officials but I cannot confirm anything. I'll remind people again AV is not a complete solution that will protect you from everything. Good web browsing practice and being smart is the best way to stop infections. RE: What anti-virus program do you use? - biosiams - 04-19-2019 BitDefender Total Security.... I just use a 90 days trial and re-activate it when it's about to expire. All you have to do is just create a new account with a new email (can use throwaway emails) and "switch account" within the "My Account" setting to get back the full 90 days. I honestly just use it for the firewall, to determine whether or not an application should have internet access quickly and easily(quite useful when downloading certain things). The ransomware protection is also welcome these days. Though I'm sure someone could figure out a way to bypass it. It's active shields certainly serve their purpose very well Indeed. RE: What anti-virus program do you use? - K4X3L1 - 06-01-2019 None, idk why but I don't use antivirus. I was using Norton since the days of the bloated Norton SystemWorks around 15 years ago, and when It's Anti-spam & firewall were separate entities. Since migrating to Avast, I've never looked back. And yeah they used to have a lot of bloatware. I think AVG is the best but it takes up so much space. Mine takes up about 17GB. I'm not sure if that's the case with other AVs too. |
