Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - impatient - 07-21-2023 Okay, I know this story is going to sound absolutely mad to most of you, but I will proceed with presenting what has occured after a parcel from Amazon was supposed to be delivered and went missing. In late June, I made a significant purchase of an expensive electronic device from Amazon. The product I bought happened to be quite rare, but fortunately, the company had some stock available through Amazon. After placing my order and waiting a few days for delivery, I was disappointed to find that no delivery attempt was made on the scheduled day. Strangely, the tracking page indicated that the driver claimed I was not at home. I tried to be patient, hoping for further updates, but the tracking information remained stagnant after the initial delivery attempt. When I contacted Amazon's customer representatives, they informed me that the parcel was either lost or stuck in transit somewhere. I waited for over two weeks, but there were no improvements in the tracking status. The whole situation seemed suspicious, especially since the delivery driver never attempted to contact me. Eventually, I received a refund from Amazon and decided to move on from the frustrating experience. However, I did set up a notification on eBay in case any listings for the exact item showed up. Given its rarity, I thought it might also be worth keeping an eye on Gumtree for potential listings. A few days ago, an unexpected miracle occurred. I noticed a seller with no selling history, based in my city, listed the exact device as brand new, at an extremely suspiciously low price. I decided to negotiate with the seller and asked for a discount. But before proceeding, I took the precaution of contacting Amazon to see if they could provide the serial number of the device for my records. To my surprise, Amazon managed to supply me with the serial number, and it turned out to match the one provided by the seller. This revelation serves as evidence that the Amazon driver must have stolen the parcel and attempted to sell it on eBay. Now, I have found the missing item, and I purchased it, providing my office address for delivery. However, I have yet to make the payment. I'm seeking your advice on whether I should proceed with taking action against the seller to reclaim the device or if it's better to abandon the cause. If it is worth pursuing the SE, what is the most straightforward way to handle the situation on eBay? I'm quite amused by this whole experience and can't believe I managed to uncover the truth behind the missing parcel. I'd purchase it and be happy you got the item for an even lower price than you paid on Amazon. Sure you could pursue taking action/reporting the driver but I feel like it would be slightly hypocritical considering what we do on this forum. Although I can understand why you might feel somewhat annoyed about it getting stolen. If you have the time to spend reporting it, go for it. I would personally forget about it. RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - RobertBrownieJr - 07-21-2023 i think the sellers address is shown somewhere on ebay for returns and such and phone number. if that is the case you rock up to his house sit outside chill act normal if it isnt too far, when you see someone coming out of the house or in the yard you phone the number on the ebay page and watch. if the guy picks up hang up you have your man. then you decide whether to cover up then and there kick his ass and rob him or remember him and give it a few days then beat his ass and rob him when hes alone. dont mention ebay or anything make it seem random so it cant be tied to you in any way you get your money and some compensation and a thief gets his knees and fingers broken I think some dude in india did something like this ( might not have been india) RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - impatient - 07-21-2023 (07-21-2023, 06:44 PM)RobertBrownieJr Wrote: i think the sellers address is shown somewhere on ebay for returns and such and phone number. Yeah, I'm not sure about that, mate. I'm not really an extreme person. RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - RobertBrownieJr - 07-21-2023 yeah dont blame you revisited the story the guy ended up crippled for life was alot more grim than i remembered. in seriousness though I guess its down to how you want to play it, I mean if you have proof of the serials matching you could use the info to presumably press charges and get your stolen property back or you could decide to buy it cheaper (Assuming amazon refunded you) and get the product cheaper. if you wanted to go the extra mile and give the seller a virtual middle finger how about refunding it after you buy from them? I mean if the product is stolen anyway the seller wont lose anything RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - impatient - 07-21-2023 (07-21-2023, 07:24 PM)RobertBrownieJr Wrote: yeah dont blame you revisited the story the guy ended up crippled for life was alot more grim than i remembered. That is exactly what I mean. What if I tell them that the box arrived empty or something? Has anyone else had experience with EBing a seller on Ebay? This is not Currys but an individual with no selling history. RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - impatient - 07-21-2023 Anyone? Should I use EB method and secure a refund? I’d just ask him if you could collect it, once he hands it over for you to inspect.. just show him all the information and proof you have if it being ‘yours’ and it being stolen say you will be taking it or you will call the cops. Would prefer not to meet him in person for safety reasons. I just want to SE the living shit out of this. RE: Stolen parcel - absolute MADNESS on Ebay - Wreck_C - 07-21-2023 First of, if you have already been refunded why do you fuckin care? Also, how do you know if that person didn't buy it themselves. Drivers don't even know what are in packages, they not risking their jobs for shit like that. This is very silly. |
