Wrong Item - Difference between shop-bought and digital order? - Madmanlugo - 07-12-2021 After a few days of pondering on the next SE, I finally decided to go with Currys eBay (why not the store itself? I have no account with them, while my eBay is aged and has a backlog of orders plus plenty of good reviews from different sellers). The item is a laptop under 1k. I checked and it perfectly matches the weight of a ream of paper, definitely considering it for a Wrong Item Received. After a quick search, I saw they are selling the exact same reams of paper both online and in their stores, so I decided to go with the safer method of getting one in-store rather than dabble with a different online account. My question: is there any difference between online-bought and store-bought items? The paper ream is the exact as far as I'm concerned. I will update as the SE progresses. RE: Wrong Item - Difference between shop-bought and digital order? - mothered - 07-13-2021 Where possible, It's best to purchase the wrong Item from the same store on a different account. As such, If they scan the return, they'll see that It's part of their Inventory and assume the Incorrect Item has been dispatched. Well, when I looked up the paper, I could see that ordering online would let you collect from in-store as well so I assumed the stock would not have any differences. I saw that the paper I bought has an extra barcode sticked on its back. When the laptop arrives I will check to see if there's a matching barcode on it. If I feel positive, I will proceed. Quote: There should be no difference between online and in-store items. Thank you, I will post updates as it progresses. I think it should go the same as if you were to order from the website. The laptop I checked was in stock on both platforms and in their stores, so I believe there shouldn't be many problems. I'm not suggesting that It won't work, but a mismatch with barcodes and/or order numbers may be Identified and ultimately lead to the claim being declined. Many stores have their very own barcodes for stock keeping/Inventory management. I will then proceed on a new account to order another ream(and an extra item for caution) and compare the two. In case it arrives later, I wasn't personally at home and someone else from the household held the parcel for me. RE: Wrong Item - Difference between shop-bought and digital order? - Wimzaa - 07-13-2021 Are addresses cross checked? I was about to SE an apple Pencil from Currys with wrong item method and buying something of equal weight in store in advance. If that's not advisable then I could order on my partner's account if there is no cross checking involved or should I use a friend? I think it depends on whoever is processing the claim. They might not care enough to go that deep with the investigation, but it never hurts to be extra safe. So I would probably order from a friend's account.
