question about SE subforum #1
Hello everyone. I haven't been here in a few years now. I have a question about the SE subforum: it seems like it got restricted and only "upgraded" members are allowed there. My question is is the subforum still active? I just want to know if it's even worth it before paying to get my account upgraded.

side note: looks like mothered, the legend, is still gone Sad is there still no info on what happened to him? I hope he's okay and living a good life.

Welcome back. The section is still around, but we're still spreading the word about the domain change. I've made a poll (you can't see), which we'll consider re-opening the Social Engineering section to the public. It was originally limited with respects to the .LY domain, but that's no longer within our control.

We don't know what happened with @mothered. He disappeared and has not logged in since. He disappeared exactly on the site's birthday, which may have been intentional. I'm sure he had his reasons, if so. I would not rule out other possibilities, but I don't believe he was arrested or anything like that.

If he were to be arrested, imagine him returning here in like a couple of years from now

thanks. i don't understand the last part. why was it closed off in the first place, and what was the reason for the domain change? did something big happen? because if it did i'm not aware of it, the only thing i'm aware of is the domain change itself

with his expertise and knowledge, i find it difficult to believe he got arrested. his opsec must have been immaculate. but then again, who knows...

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t SE start to become a bit to mainstream. Methods being leaked to the general public, more companies being exploited which traced back to most forums and I believe their was heat

My feeling is it more likely just died out, oversatured with subway gift cards, refunding and or some low level gamer rgb keyboard rma. The communities lost a sense of sharing. And people became more into crypto and whatnot.

I think what sets this group apart is the curiosity of it all. Discovering the figurative secret key to unlock a door (for research purposes)
