I didn't know you smoke. I was under the Impression you lead a pretty healthy lifestyle.

In my views (correct me If I'm wrong), when taken In equal proportion at somewhat of an equilibrium, I believe cigarettes are more detrimental to one's health than alcohol.

You are indeed incorrect. If you drank as much as I smoked, you would be dead very quickly. When I left Michigan my average was about 3 packs a day. I've significantly cut back recently, but I do still smoke.

You are, however partially correct. Alcohol can indeed be very healthy for you, as long as you
1. drink 1oz of pure (food grade) alcohol every day
2. never drink more than that
3. start when you're in your teens

I do live a generally healthy lifestyle, but that's not by choice, I just have a distaste for many unhealthy items (like sugar) and a great taste for healthy ones (like fat)

Very Informative reading.

My goodness, 3 packs a day Is quite significant. It's good to read you've reduced It. In terms of alcohol, It's said that a glass or two of red wine each day Is also good for your health. Though I'm not sure whether the quality of the wine makes a difference.

It's the alcohol in the wine that gives said benefits. White wine on the other hand does combat oxidative stress

On a different note to alcohol, the antioxidants In dark chocolate benefit the cardiovascular system.

Of course, as with everything, It must be taken In moderation.

The sugar in chocolate hurts your heart significantly. I eat a rich diet of steak, bacon, etc all fried in a deep pool of pure butter and I weigh almost nothing and have a perfect immune system (I've been sick exactly one time, because I compromised my immune system by drinking way too much vodka right next to someone with the flu). I don't eat hardly any sugars (makes me feel nauseous)

I certainly agree with the sugar content. Do take It easy with alcohol- I've been there and done that with Vodka, drinking a bottle a day (750ml) around 2 decades ago. It Impacted on my health pretty badly.

How about the dark chocolate with 90% cocoa? I eat a couple of pieces each day as part of my healthy eating plan.

That stuff is pretty hard to eat, I can't do anything over 80% or under 70%.

The sugar is really the only bad part of it, I just can't do the taste of that stuff beyond one square a month.

I definitely see your point.

After eating Cadbury Dairy Milk for so many years, when I switched to Lindt 90% Dark Chocolate, the taste was terrible and took quite a while to get used to. Much to the displeasure of some, I've grown to love It.
