Hi,

Is it really important to install the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10?

Automatically the download starts and for some reason it never finish. After successive tries, it fails. I'm using a unlimited internet connection, if that wasn't the case i had a huge internet bill to pay. blame for Microsoft. I use basic protection, an antivirus and a firewall but isn't that enough to browse the internet?

I have seen in sites that i don't own anymore visitors using Windows XP/Vista/7 etc and they seem not to have any problems.

Any comments?

Also i have tried several times install a Unix system on a flash drive but didn't work out. The only one that run was CentOS but it crashed when trying to load the Kernel. (This was an atempt to revive another computer)

This Is one of many reasons I refuse to perform Windows updates. Never have, never will.

Set your PC's Metered connection to "On" and "disable" (stop) the Windows Update service. Both will prevent updates from automatically Installing.

@MrSecurity - Thanks for the tips. I have choose to block "Windows10UpgradeApp.exe" with my Virus Emergency Blocker.

Currently no, i have tried to create a bootable pen drive but it doesn't run windows or any other OS. I already wasted a lot of time downloading isos and programs to create a bootable linux pen drive and even ask for help on a another forum and the problem wasn't solved so i have a laptop that is gathering dust now.

You're welcome.

Once disabled, be sure to keep an eye on the Windows Update service, particularly when rebooting your system. In my experience, I've established that (at times) Windows re-enables It to allow the Installation of updates.

In most cases, wimdows updates are important. Unless you have a reason, you shouldnt disable them.

They can. I usually put them off a week or so before I install them in case Microsoft fucks up again.

It's really shit that sometimes Microsoft don't even care about updates and just send them and you need to update and they just like brick your computer. I saw a YouTuber that got his Lenovo Yoga something, installed Windows Updates, boom PC dead.

I couldn't agree more.

Although I've mentioned In my above post that I have never Installed updates, It's more so referring to the last decade or so. I did In fact perform updates twice In my 20+ years of computing, of which the second occasion corrupted my PC to point of having to reinstall Windows. A lot of friends have experienced similar Issues.
