Why does Empty Box work so often? 06-27-2019, 06:48 PM

There are a decent amount of companies where the Empty Box method works for refunding/SE'ing, but why would it? Don't companies check the weight of packages they sent out for example?

I never thought that Empty box method would work for items over 130g's so i've never really tried it. But the empty box method works with light weight items because the weight difference when weighing the parcel is so marginal, that the company can't really dispute you saying the box was empty.

Well for Amazon, I'd say that they don't really care. The operats most likely have 15 different chats open at once and they most likely have the time to check your order history. There might be a chance Amazon decides to open an investigation, and in the worst case if the cops show up they won't most likely have an warrant for suspicous order history online.

If It doesn't register a weight on consignment, they cannot cross-check It with the carrier, hence a successful outcome In favor of the SE'er.

Empty box works pretty well, I did it for a 700g Hard Drive and the rep didn't even ask questions or seem remotely suspicious.
