Where It All Began

What's the anime or manga that got you started?
Have you developed any hobbies that come from watching anime or reading manga?

For me, it all started with Dragon Ball, the anime, around when I was 4.

From there I've developed several hobbies like drawing and learning to make cosplay. Although, neither has worked out too well. Stressed

I'm pretty sure I watched several anime on TV when I was real young, like pokemon, but I don't tend to count that as I didn't continue watching that stuff.

I got into anime as I got older (around 14) as I was pushed into watching Bleach.

I got hooked. I doubt I would enjoy that show now as much, but as a 14 year old, I loved it. They had some fantastic (and insane) characters. And there were hundreds of episodes to binge on, so I never ran out of episodes to watch (I never did finish the whole thing at 300+ eps). By then, I'd been watching anime enough that I branched out. Now I like all kinds of genres (except the hentai/ecchi stuff. Not for me!).

Ahh I didn't know they showed that stuff on toonami. The US had so much better access to anime on TV than I did. Not sure if that was true for all British TV services, but I had pokemon and freaking Tokyo Mew Mew xD

Technically Ponyo was my first (or maybe something that I don't remember), but I didn't really get into it till I decided to watch Toradora.
Not sure how long ago this was (Toradora), probably just 1.7-3 years ago. (1.3 years is a large range, I know)

I'd watched Pokemon when I was really young, but don't really consider it my first. What really got me hooked was either Inuyasha or Cowboy Bebop. I'd normally stay up until 4-5am watching Adult Swim hoping Inuyasha would be on. One night I caught the end of a Cowboy Bebop episode, but didn't know what anime it was. Only remembered that it said "See you space cowboy..." at the end. Thankfully that was enough to find the anime via a Google search.

Wow, what a line to remember from the first time you watch it. Love that show.
