Only when you have the refund for sure or already from the time you write to the support?

Probably the smartest thing to do is to wait until you get your money back.
I wonder, however, whether that is worth it, because you are partly waiting a long time for the refund.

I use it pretty much instantly if I'm honest. Don't really see the point in waiting, but then that's just because I'm ridiculously impatient.

It depends what your plan is if the refund is turned down.
A lot of times i would plan to either return the SEd item for a full refund or sell it on still packaged. I dont feel fully safe opening it until the refunds in my account.

On the other hand if i'm SEing something i planned on buying anyway then i'll just go ahead and use it

Wait until the Refund hits your bank. Soak in the success and then start using it as a precious reward.
