Why carry pistols?

Surely your location Isn't that bad to fear for your safety.

Because rifles are very heavy and cumbersome.
or if you meant the non-literal form, because after getting into a (likely) lethal self defense encounter where all I had was a knife, I pledged I'd never let someone get that close to me again.

Asked my cousin the same thing, made the same assumption and got a similar response. His was, "why bring fists to a gun fight?"

That's generally the idea.... I thought like you two until I was plunged into it. I've carried a gun 24/7 (except for sleep and showers) ever since

I usually just have my phone, wallet and keys. Headphones, chapstick, etc, are usually in the car. The only weapon I had was a Swiss army knife but that was kept at home and I eventually just gave it away

I don't have regular access to a computer. From time to time, I need to copy, transfer and print documents on the go. The internet can be a bit unreliable at times.

Most of the handguns are scattered about the house, most of the rifles are in a closet. Not too much home defense use for a .22lr rifle or a 30 inch shotgun. Handgun rounds are far less likely to do too much damage if I miss or it goes through someone getting shot. If, however I use the mosin (which is always loaded in a corner), and miss I can guarantee it goes clear out of my apartment, into the next, through anything in its way, and probably stops in the exterior wall of the next apt if it hits enough stuff. Not a good idea.

my set up every day is my 8 flash drives, phone, vape pen, 2 wallets, knife, and i leave my pistol in my car as i cant carry where i work.
