What is time ? 04-14-2016, 07:34 AM

Einsteins relativity theory, explained to the best of my ability (not at all a physics major, physicist, or anything. This is mostly anecdotal. Being a little high also helps)
time is kind if like it's own distance, like another axis. You have the x, y, and z axis, right? When you look up and down, left and right, forward and backward. Time is different, though. Think 5 seconds in the future, now think five seconds in the past.
We have a general perception of time just like we do distance. We know generally what three feet is, or six meters or a mile. We also generally know what happened 30 minutes ago.
Prediction is a bit different, i guess. It's more comparable to how you can predict where you will be in ten feet riding your scooter down the driveway. We generally know what we will do in the next five, ten, fifteen or thirty minutes.
Now we also have velocity and moving along the axis'. It's important that we can move along any axis without changing where we are on the other ones. So, you can move along one axis at one speed and another at a different speed, and they don't interfere(moving diagonally ie it looks like your moving diagonally but really you're just moving in two axes).
Now everything has a fixed total velocity it can move at. That's the speed of light. So if you're cool like me and you have a photon jet on your desk chair and you use it, and start moving up at the speed of light, all your velocity is pointing in that direction and there is nothing left for the other axes. So theoretically time has stopped (only for you, though. For everyone else it's still going) and you can come back to become a cyborg and live forever. Immortality achieved
That's all, folks
