What computer should I get #1
My old computer just broke ( it was a shitty 2008 acer laptop anyway...) but I'm looking for a new one. I will mostly be mixing music and editing pictures on it maybe a little bit of gaming but no demanding games. If anyone could help me that would be great! I have a budget of $600. (Laptop only please)

You can't go wrong with a Lenovo ThinkPad. You can even get an older model on a budget. They have the longest lifespan than most computers. The best part is most of them have fully interchangeable parts, meaning you can upgrade the CPU, RAM, add a 2nd SSD/HDD and much more according to your needs (this applies to older models such as the T420). Will you be running Windows or Linux? Check this link for a newer model --> ThinkPad X1

You don't have to be a "Hacker" to use Linux. Linux is a great OS for all sorts of things. Everyone thinks Linux is just a terminal based OS and that you have to write code to use it. It's not the Matrix. There are some great user friendly GUI based distributions. You should check out Ubuntu or Debian. Linux is freedom to use your system how you please and join a great community of free software. It all depends on preference. Don't let the movies deceive you into believing only "Hackers" use Linux. Hackers use Windows as well. Linux gives you the freedom to build/customize your own OS as oppose to being limited with Windows. Just some knowledge for you, I'm not telling you to switch to Linux, just wanted to clarity what Linux is about.

Thanks for clarifying! That is actually very helpful to me, and I might consider using Linux now!
