I encountered this about four times, each with different companies.

Two of those times the driver never mentioned it. One time, I had a plan to give him a smashed part, and actually asked if he was supposed to pick it up and he had no clue what the fuck I was talking about.

The fourth time (which was actually second chronologically) he actually asked for it back and I just had to say we threw it out due to chemical hazard and he gave me the package anyways.

As @Qlova said, you don't really have anything to lose so you should be okay. They mostly are just trying to test to see if you'll freak out. NEVER do this.
