If you're thinking about claiming that a wrong item was in the manufacturer's box... that's unusual.
Essentially a single-order-WIR-variant? You might be onto something, however potentially a hard sell. 

There would be details to think through to make it believable :
- was the item sealed? no way the manufacturer would make such mistake.
- item has no seal : you could argue some SEer previously returned it like this, assuming it was never checked...
would most likely fail on Am@zon tho, as we mentioned they are meticulous with returns these days.

Yes, DNA is no option if they ask you where to place it. You're best off returning it and trying something cheaper.
Only way to DNA it is to receive it personally without OTP.

yes, this is what I was thinking. But in all honesty, whos to say the am@zon driver takes a picture then picks it right back up? I could think about SB'ing too. But I think i'll chalk it up as a filed attempt without proper coaching.

@squrry mentioned it, you are taking 100% responsibility if you ask carrier to drop it on your instructions.
You have to meet the driver & fake-sign it. If he's careless, he might drop it off *without* your instructions : best case scenario.

I'll be honest tho, I never claimed DNA for a shipment received in person w/ signature to my real address.
Cant be bothered with the poor angry guy coming back for me.
For this type of DNA, I'd recommend using an alt (drop, burner phone, vcc...).

I only claim DNA when there's some (even slight) form of negligence occuring on carrier's side.
This way there's room for me to work on & deny everything.

Greater peace of mind to push reps, knowing I literally did not meet the delivery guy.

For DNA I wouldn't wanna risk the driver being mad. A DNA could also mean that the item was dropped off, but stolen from your front door. It's still the responsibility of the driver, but the company will take the blame.

In my case, the delivery driver arrived at my home and seemed to expect a signature. However, I didn't sign anything or even speak with him. Later, I received an email from Amazon asking about my preferred drop-off location—eg the side of the house, front porch, or mailbox—which led me to believe that a signature was not actually required. However, if i were to answer Am@zons email, and click lets say "front porch" I would be in fact take blame for the delivery, meanwhile the driver could drop it off take picture and then take the item. Doesn't make sense.

if what you said is true about your account history then dna is fine. You are basically the type of customer a courtesy refund is for.

Amazon is one company that doesn't open external investigations with delivery companies so drivers typically don't come back. Go through phone call it's better and more likely you would be transferred to a supervisor if the intitial rep can't process a refund for that amount. Worst case is they ask you to file a PR.

Yes. But there are now factors in this situation that make it slightly impossible to DNA for refund.
