Tricky question.. In general the birth certificate in the UK is almost useless as it is used in very few situations. Many of the government operations do not accept a birth certificate as a form of ID (all interactions I have had did not) and by extension many private businesses do not as well. This is most probably due to the fact that it is not a photographic ID.
For parcels I assume this would be based on the courier's T&C regarding what is an acceptable form of ID. For example
Royal Mail does not list a birth certificate as acceptable proof of ID (that being said it is different story whether the customer representative there will accept it, though I doubt it) however they do not insist on photographic ID. DPD being the complicated ones to deal with require
two forms of ID if a signature is required. If not they can drop it in a local shop where you can use a bank card.
Sorry I cannot give you solid answer but in my experience the birth certificate is not used very commonly. As such it may raise more suspicion than simply going in with a debit/credit card with the name of the recipient. Perhaps it is different in different countries where the birth certificate is a more powerful document.

I appreciate your In depth reply, It's very beneficial to both myself and our SEing community.
The reason I specifically asked about a birth certificate, Is due to the fact that It can easily be manipulated. In my country, apart from a driver's license, a birth certificate holds the most Important value In terms of verifying one's ID.

Sadly doesn't work as you need a ID. Already attempted it a few times and as I use a fake name for my SEs; they don't accept the ID and in result, don't hand over the package.
95% of the time if you send it to a paki shop / corner shop they dont give a fuck aslong as you have the email and barcode to collect. collectplus and yodel both offer a lot of these paki shops for collection.
you can also just SE the staff in said shop. I usually walk in and say "its my first time doing this thing, im not good with technology, did i come to the right place?" blah blah blah
you can also do your research and specifically target a certain store... come in multiple times previously to having your parcel delivered there and make good friends with the staff so they know you, and have a suitable well established level of trust towards you.
you can also very easily acquire a "legitimate" ID from various sources. TOR, street contacts, etc.
Ensure you do NOT send to royal mail / post office counters. They will for SURE require ID as its a government establishment.
Yeah, my previous drop address was a corner shop that's currently closed right now. They were pretty lenient and didn't care but I'm looking for some more stable for now. However for collection ones even when going into random stores they were pretty adamant on getting a ID matching parcel. Worst case I'll pay some random off snapchat etc to use their address which is pretty common in the UK and have somebody pick it up.
I would be doing a lot of SEs on the same companies so the ID process isn't very feasible due to the fact that I'd have to make a lot.
Update: Got a drop address and something is being sent there; will know soon if it's actually good. Sent through Hermes so hopefully it lands

Why not have one ID that is "yours" and cycle through every company once. Then refresh the ID, and repeat the companies?
Also, seeing as you are in the UK... If you are doing this regularly, feel free to exchange telegrams / wickr. Perhaps we can help each other out in some cases.

Happy to share what I know
I gathered your idea and it is in fact easy to falsify, perhaps that is one reason why it is not used commonly here.

Not that I condone It, but Indeed It Is very simple to falsify.
I'm at a loss as to why my country accepts It as a major form of ID verification.

Hi all, apologies for the inactivity here. Here's a quick update: Found a house "for rent" per @
mothered 's suggestion (appreciate it) and it worked fine. Sadly over here what I've noticed from trying different drops multiple times is that a lot of carriers don't like placing down the packages and even if you do put a safeplace they'll usually just end up throwing you a "Couldn't find you, will retry tomorrow" tracking message which sucks (tried Hermes & RM). However, I got somebody to sit at the porch because I got a time slot and everything was good.
In conclusion, if you need to find a quick drop-- try finding a house for rent near you. It will be empty and with COVID-19 going around, I doubt any people will be buying houses nor visiting homes at the moment near you.

You're most welcome.
Excellent to read that the SE succeeded.

It's certainly become more difficult with the COVID-19 situation.
There are carriers who simply drop off packages- It's just a matter of Identifying those that do with an SE of this nature.

Great to read that. Well done!
I shall be looking into it more in depth.
