It depends on what your real goals are. Hacking is not the same thing as copying tutorials online.
If you want to be a hacker, it takes years of study and understanding of operating systems, hardware, software and networks.

Don't expect to become a hacker today or next year, it's a really complex field that is always changing. You can't specialize in everything, if i were you i'd start with a broad course on programming and computation, you can try open source society ( https://github.com/open-source-society/computer-science ). As you learn how to program, then you will come across the "hacking path" naturally. But you can't begin as a hacker, because that is the equivalent of asking how to be an NBA player without first learning how to play basketball.

thanks guys your post and links have been very useful. i too at first started thinking it was something easy but now 3years on and off of it, i can see i haven't even started. am still a novice into hacking.

I recommend learning a bit of programming first as it will help you understand how some things work. One language i would recommend is python, there are plenty of free courses online and it's a useful language and a good starter one. I wish you luck.

Just adding my thoughts, the language you choose, does depend on the capacity of hacking you're looking to excel In. I'm Into web/server hacking, so PHP and SQL are a must.

Start by researching the different subsections of hacking, then research those sections.
Learn a few coding languages, I recommend Python, BASH , C++ and PHP (Lua also sounds good though)
Research the way computers work, from the ground up.
Find out how the internet works.
You have now started your never ending journey, continue learning and never give up!
