[Tutorial] How To Create Subtitles 01-18-2011, 05:16 PM

Introduction
As you know Subtitles or Video Subtitles are the Text which are made to appear exactly when there is any voice in a video.
Windows does not provide you any easy way of doing that. Windows hates to do anything worthwhile nowadays. :lp:
You can either use an external program to create subtitles or work hard in Notepad.
How to make one for your Video?
Start with Creating a blank file with Notepad in the same directory as your video and with the same name as your video, but with an .srt extension.
Now you have these files:
- MyVideo.AVI
- MyVideo.srt
Now open the blank srt file in your Text-Editor (Notepad, Notepad++, etc.)
This is the basic syntax:
Code:
1
00:00:29,314 --> 00:00:31,1
First Text.
2
00:00:31,1 --> 00:00:33,154
Second Text. First Text is gone now.
(number increases, and timeline keeps being in synch)Keep doing this for the whole video and you have a completely synched subtitle.

I made one for this video (see attachment)
Yes it's real boring, so do it only if you really have some purpose (like I wanted to make this thread :lp

Have fun. Maybe.
