They didn’t receive a reply within the 2 day window they gave me so issued me a refund today, I’m not sure if this is the same with other companies but a potential loophole for an easy SE.

I'd say they simply approved the refund without confirming It via email or otherwise.

Zara DNA was done through the live chat, they asked for 24 hours and did this for a full week until this morning, when I contacted them this morning they said there was evidence of delivery, it was a picture of a note which I put up saying to leave near the bins, which obviously is not proof of delivery. They escalated it and within 6 hours I received an email stating I would receive a full refund.

Also was my method of putting a note saying to leave by the bins if there was no answer a good idea as there is no proof I was the one who put the note there?

I typically wait at least 3 days after delivery or 2 days, (delivery day count as 1) to contact CS because sometimes packages might arrive a couple days later than ETA. It makes it seem more legit to the CS as you craft the appearance of a patient and rational customer.

Who else would know you're receiving a delivery on the day the note was left? Only the driver, and you'd certainly want to avoid Impacting him/her.

When "you" provide delivery Instructions to leave the package In a given location, you're liable for loss of goods, so I'm very surprised the claim was approved. At the end of the day It succeeded, and that's all that matters.

I told them that I didn’t put the note there and since it was on the outside of the door someone else must/could have. I also didn’t leave any delivery instructions on the website and the paper note was all that was left.
