Speaking as someone working in the mental health field, institutions have historically been a bad idea. The problem that I am noticing with a lot of individuals when it comes to issues as these it always boils down to race and mental illness issues. There is the claim that when a white man commits a mass shooting its a mental illness issue yet when a person of color does it is a criminal issue. There should be equal focus on the mental illness aspect as well as how is it so easy for these individuals to get their hands on a weapon. Situations like these are often displayed to us in a way to divide the people rather than bring people together because everyone is headstrong in their opinions on gun rights and mental illness. People need to take a step back, really assess what the fuck is going on and make well informed decisions. Rather than jumping on the bandwagon because of what their local news channel says. Sorry if it is a bit jumbled and is hard to understand.
