Thoughts on 4K monitors? #1
I was curious as to what you guys thought of 4k monitors? I found a really cheap one on Newegg for Black Friday that has some decent reviews (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.asp...9659-L010C) but I was wondering if anyone here had to some real life experience with a 4k display and tell me how well they go with gaming and whatnot?

If you got the money and the card to support it, go for it!

All the games I play can't support 4k even though my GFX card can. So why would I buy a 4k monitor? When 4k games come out, I'll definitely buy one or three.

As @Losi said. It's basically giving us a rocket launcher but all we have is handgun ammo. It looks nice but it's more a trophy than anything else until games begin supporting these screens. It just seems pointless.

Thanks for the input @Losi and @Mom! By the time most games are actually supported monitors will most likely be cheaper anyways.

My thoughts exactly. By the time 4k games are the norm, they'll be inexpensive.

I had a single 4K monitor from Asus (IPS if i remember correctly), and let me tell you the basics:
- Unless you have brute force power, a single card, excepting maybe a Titan, will not be able to power the monitor for applications that usually use alot of resources in a full 4k resolution in proper quality. Seriously, a 780 TI at the time couldn't push 4k at HIGH 30fps on BF4.

- Most applications are not optimized for or even break when using 4k. You may find yourself running at 1920x1080 alot for some things. Also only recently has 60fps true and ultra 4k monitors begun to come out and theyre expensive as balls. And if youre thinking "but 30 is fine", kill yourself.
30fps is fucking horrid.

- In the current market, its mostly a loss situation for the consumer using 4k, since youll need quite a powerful machine to push it when you could just have a 1920 monitor WITH G SYNC AND IPS for a whole lot less.

TL;DR,
Get an HD monitor if you cant push it (which i doubt you can) or afford it.

I have the EVGA 780 Ti and I seriously thought that I had the performance part down pat...

For a reference.
It took 2 of your cards, TWO, just to push 35.2 fps.

There's not enough games out there in my opinion to justify the cost, also wait until the cost of 4k monitors goes down.
