Suspicious? 03-05-2021, 01:43 PM

This question is primarily toward Amazon, but my friend is really wanting to know in general for others as well . .
So let’s assume she attempts the partial method on an iPhone 12 Pro. She says, “ I was really looking forward to receiving my new phone, but I only received an empty box” or “I never got it”. How is it that someone goes for this to getting a refund? Even if Amazon or whomever she purchases from actually believe this, wouldn’t they only reship the item and not refund it?
I personally believe that it would look suspicious for the representative to say that something happened to the item and then directly after you just say, “well, don’t re-ship me the item, just give me the money back” on this item that was desired so eagerly. Is she missing something in the equation?
Wouldn’t the phone somehow be tagged as being lost or stolen and then it not be a good idea for her to put it in service with her carrier?
