...well, the rumor that Nintendo would do a second one of these is true.

A follow-up to the NES Classic - a Nintendo-made clone of the classic NES using simple ARM-based hardware - this will be a Super Nintendo/Super Famicom clone with twenty-one games, HDMI output for compatibility on more modern television sets, and two controllers.

The list of announced games is as follows:

Personally, while I really like the look of the games list - they've picked quality titles over quantity - there's no way I'm going to shell out the money as for the same price you can just build your own emulation-based machine using a variety of single-board computers or even a computer as old as something based on the Pentium 2 alongside the worry that they'll do what they always do and put barely any supply out to make the demand even larger for the system. Still, if they do keep making these for more than four months and the eBay resellers haven't made the price too crazy, I'd have a bit of interest into hacking the hardware as while the NES Classic wasn't the greatest internally, being able to be modded into a small, NES-shaped emulation station running anything from Atari 2600 to the games of the early 90s with some great controllers was a bit nice if you were able to get your hands on one.

update* - It's another limited-run product, with production ending when 2017 ends so yeah, just go buy a cheap little computer like a RPi, Tinker Board, etc. and don't even look at these unless they do more than one wave a month as eBay scalpers will probably determine the market value if it's only being made for a few months.

Mhm I kinda like the idea too, since I am a big fan of nintendo, but SNES isn't really worth it, unless you are some kind of console collector I guess?

Older consoles are easily emulated on your laptop or even phone, which are just as compact as the new product they are releasing.

So.. I wouldn't really gun for it either, but it's still nice to see, they are doing something.

Looks like a great list of games! I feel like this will be as popular as the last classic.

I'm a fan of the NES and SNES, but honestly these types of systems don't really appeal to me.
I bought the NES version of that and returned it a few days later.

Never saw the point in consoles being reproduced, as they aren't original. As you say, it'd be cheaper to make an emulation-based machine. Would make sense if you're a die-hard collector and have the originals. I generally use flashcarts so I can play everything on my handhelds.
