Made a fake invoice.
So you told them you bought it from a store, right? Not through JBL directly?

Correct.

This is what they have said to me:

"If the product was purchased from a retailer or webshop, I advise you to contact the place of purchase as they will be able to advise you of your warranty options and provide you with a solution."

Did this happen to you? What did you say in response if they did, to get around them telling you to contact a store?

I just explained that I had to go through JBL, everything is a case-by-case basis and I was able to tell by the wording of the conversations I had with customer service that this was not a common occurence hence it was dealt with the way it was, I was just able to build up a convincing story and they believed it. I suggest you try the same.

The best way to learn in this game is through trial and error. I have tried and failed many times before I even discovered this forum.

Investigation is normal in situations like this as far as I am aware

Just a post to say I recently SE'd JBL using the S/N method and even got an upgrade!

I had a Flip 5 s/n and used the classic, battery acid leak, didnt have to send photos as I said it was thrown away and after a couple of days they confirmed they are sending a replacement, but the replacement is a brand new Flip 6 speaker instead!

The customer service was great at every step and they were very pleasant to deal with and had a quick turnaround overall too.  Cool

How did you get around them asking for an order number or receipt?

Why would this be an issue? You have order number in emails surely so this won’t be a problem

What difference does this make? Will this not work if bought online?

How would I have the order number, when I didn't order them. This is the serial number method.
