Show Off Your Work #1
So I'm curious SL.

What kind of programs have you made from scratch? Add-ons?

What is your favorite language to use and why.

Feel free to post some of your own work or at least a brief description and a link to your own thread (if you want your own thread) for some rep.
Spoiler:
it's circle jerk time boyz

Personally I'm still learning and have yet to find a language that I'm comfortable with coding my own programs with.
In Java (save your hate please, I'm aware) I made a messenger that basically saves chats to a text file on a shared drive that the program then reads for a basic chat room. Other random generator programs and some automation for school but outside of that, not a whole lot.

I pick up new languages when I want a challenge; some stick with me and others fade out. My most recent "big" project is ICLA which I put a little too much time into this summer, and I'm in the process of making a Discord bot for tabletop gaming utilities (dice rolls, combat, loot, etc...).

Aside from that I make some web bots and the odd GUI program in Java or C#. More recently, I've been doing a lot of automation and user interactivity abstraction with Bash, Perl, git, and Bower.

I'm in way over my head par usual, I leave for the Air Force in exactly a month and I have way too many unfinished projects.

I'm at a middle ground of deciding If I should convert Ven0m to C++, or keep it in C#.
I'm working on automating VM's to do runtime virus scans, making it modular so I can hotplug them in and out if needed without needing to recompile.
Still coding in and learning MASM32/80486.
Other misc projects that I won't mention.
And on top of that trying to get a group project going, and keep my post count up Tongue

Favorite Language is Definitely C

Favorite program I made is a tossup. Probably the Genetic Algorithm for Conways Game of Life I did, or maybe the heap sort in ASM.

Usually the more difficult a program is the more I like it once it's finished, but Genetic Algorithm wasn't too difficult, it was a just a cool concept to build around.

Haven't made any user programs, really. Should probably try my hand at that, but at the moment i'm pretty happy with programming assignments, and working on some OSS projects on the side (these aren't from scratch and not my creation, obviously)

Interesting. I remember looking at the thread on Ven0m but never actually checked it out. From my experience though, it's almost always easier to break your code back down into simple terms highlighting any language specific chunks of the code and reworking it from scratch on the new language. I know that C++ is similar to C# but I'm not too sure on how similar. Good luck man!

Favorite language: ARM (32 bit + Thumb2)
Most used language: C

If you really want to see some of the hideous personal projects I've done, have a look at my github
this one is pretty interesting since my knowledge of networking is rather lacking.

I was on a bit of a hiatus but something previous that I worked on was this social music platform called USound you were able to upload your work to the program as well as listen and download other users work and have "crowds" of your own which acted as groups to match people with users of similar taste, or create your own password protected groups. That program was make more to test out the crowd feature and as a side project from one I had been working on but had to stop because I got (almost) sued, but thats a story for a different time. I'm working on a piece of software now but don't really know how to explain it. I plan of releasing a beta for it soon though.
