For SEing the company.
You can perform the "serial number" method or the "disposed faulty item" method.

Depending on the Item, you can also use the leaking battery method.

Most, if not all, products will have a serial number. A serial number can give a company several pieces of information, such as exact model of your product or even place of purchase/purchase date (though not very common in my experiences) depending on how far the company goes. It also helps the company in other ways, like ensuring the same product isn't used more than once to gain a replacement.

When dealing with companies like Logitech, Apple, Dell, etc. you will need a serial number for the product you want to SE.

Either that, or Identified by a product ID (or some variant) on either the Item Itself, or the attached barcode/tag.
