My friend lived about 5 minutes away from the shooting, and I panicked like crazy when it started and he wouldn't pick up. Turns out he was alright, just couldn't answer because of the panic.
I really can't understand this guy, though. He had a first-class life, spent money like it was nothing and didn't look half-bad. If you see his Youtube videos, he goes on saying how he hates popular kids and despises women for not going after him after he "bought a BMW" and dressed the part, even going so far as to call himself "the perfect gentleman". Yet when others tried reaching out to him before the shooting, he just declined and stayed withdrawn. If he was looking for acceptance, he had the means and others gave him the chance. I really wonder what could cause someone like him to just snap.

It's likely he already knew the consequences of his actions, and would rather not face jail and negative publicity for the rest of his life. The idea of being locked away for the rest of your life is too much for some to handle, which is why they choose suicide or death by cop.
But, he's gone now, so we'll never know the answer from him personally. All we can do is analyze his reasons and videos, to hopefully prevent more tragedies like this from happening.

Honestly, he wasn't a serial killer nor was he mentally ill. He was a perfectly functioning person who decided that he was going to go ahead and kill people because he wasn't getting the attention he oh-so required.
