It's your call. As said, nothing may ever happen.

To help avoid being traced, you'd need to fully anonymize your credentials, especially your payment method - the account where the money will be deposited (from the buyer) upon sale.

I mean, it depends on the method that you used. If you used something like DNA, where the airpods could be in anyones hands, I believe it should be safe to sell them as long as you don't use your real name when selling them.
i used MEB but i dont know if it got registered as lost or anything, i got my refund basically instantly when saying my box was empty.
did you use a fresh account ?

Never actually considered this but i feel like there would need to be a police level investigation for them to dig that deep.

Not necessarily.

If the transaction demonstrates you're the original buyer who sold an Item that's supposed to be non-existent (and the company has knowledge of It), then they can take further action - without police Intervention.

I was thinking the company who was hit would need access to your bank statement to see that you both bought/refunded the item and then sold it thereafter to make the link. What i think you are saying is if you had personally identifying details associated with the sale such as your FB account then that plus their records showing it is a refunded item under your name would be enough ?

No bank statement needed.

Although for security reasons your credit card/bank account number Is not fully exposed, companies can see x-amount of digits. For Instance, Amazon can see the first 6 digits - which Is enough to link transactions. Other companies differ - they may (for example) only see the last 4 digits, or the first 2 and 3 In the middle and so on, and so forth.

Why do you think It's a necessity to change your payment method to prevent multi-accounting exposure? Companies can Instantly Identify It based on the above criteria.

Im aware of this I just wasn't sure how they would be getting info on the sale itself but I see now.

Apologies, It wasn't targeted at yourself, but rather speaking In general.

I should've stated exactly that.
