Sealed Box with Fake Item? Good or bad? #1
Is it a good idea when using the sealed box method, to replace the original item with a fake? What could be the possible consequences? Amazon currently controls returns very meticulously. There would be a very good fake necessary or? Where are good fakes offered?

I mean, what else would you put in the box? Stones?
When It gets open on arrival, they might see that you've put (seemingly) the correct item in the box.

Yes.

In the event the box Is opened, there's a chance they'll pass It as the original Item.

Nothing.

Simply say you were In a rush, and mistakenly packed the Incorrect Item In the box. As to why It was resealed to perfection, you were concerned that an open/damaged box would void the refund, hence returned It In Its original state.

AliExpress.

For example:
https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32568033437...4itemAdapt
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32568043...8768%21sea
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32568043...9491%21sea

Or this site for a wide range of phones.

@mothered that makes sense. Thanks for all the input. I will start a new sealed box SE. This time I will replace the original article with a dummy. I will start a new thread soon.

It is always hard for me to believe that there are no consequences when the Sealed Box method goes wrong. Especially when you replace it with a fake. You convinced me to just say I was in a hurry and accidentally put the wrong item back in the box. Is there another good excuse when they ask why I placed a dummy?

^ There are two reasons why It's best to opt for a dummy product.

1. With any luck, they may pass It as the original Item.
2. Mistakenly returning a like-for-like product Is easy to justify.

If you want to do SE using sealed box method you should watch unboxing videos of products you want. If you want to do MacBook you should know that they send cardboard with their brand tapes. When you open it, there is a second cardboard which is foil-wrapped. The weld is only from one site. It’s very hard to do at home.
If you want to do iPhones, better check replica one than dummy one. Dummy one looks like fake one.
Anyway, I would hit local shop than Amazon with apple hardware.

To the untrained eye, the dummy looks quite authentic.

Agreed.

Apple has been abused over the last few months, hence both Amazon and Apple have significantly tightened their return/claims management.

Thanks for the tips @eljot88 and @mothered.

Since I want to use the sealed box method for the second time, I would like to start where I failed last time. According to my research there are no fake or dummy cameras like the Sony Alpha 7 IV, right?

From my experience, I can say that the seal is easier to remove than on an iphone.

If anyone has found a site that offers a fake Sony Alpha 7IV or similiar cameras, I would be very grateful if they could post this.
