Never falsify anything related to a PR.

Wait a little longer, they may well approve the claim.

Alrighty, I asked a support guy how long it typically takes from his experience. He said usually 5-7 business days for investigation period to close.

That's why I suggested to wait - you've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain If the claim Is approved.

spoke to amazon customer service today. They called my local police but came back and told me the police weren't able to provide the necessary information they need to validate the report for a refund. They told me to contact them after 50 days to see what my other options are...

That's complete nonsense.
You've fully complied with everything that Amazon asked of you. If they cannot validate the report, that's their problem - they can sort It out with the police. Request your claim be escalated on the grounds that you've provided everything as requested.
