As far as I know, if you search up for AMD CPUs on eBay, there will be a few defective or clones which are very cheap
On 3rd market China markets, I am not so sure about it. You have to dig a little bit more into it and find niche accounts for it

I actually found a seller on eBay he sells engraved Athlon II's for $100. These would work perfectly for AM4 CPUs but they look vastly different from AM5 CPUs. I'm sure if the swap was performed at a big retailer such as Walmart or Amazon it could fly. If you search 9800X3D "Necklace" you'll find them. Curious what everyone's thoughts are on this.

I read through a few threads, Craiglist is also a shot worth. I would also look into SugarGoo and similar websites. These are mostly niche websites. Alwayws look for a direct contact to the seller and ask him for a favour in exhchange for good money. Ask him then, if he could engrave 9800x3d for you.

I would swap it directly with walmart. Face 2 Face. I bet they wont check it in front of you. Do they save S/N? I am not from the sates, just take a look on the invoice for expensive items

I checked and haven't found any fake CPU's of Ryzen.

Delidding could be an easier process, of course it would require tools and etc

I think b8uer is selling a specific tool, its not that expensive. But I am not sure how to reapply it on an old CPU
