What are some details I should look out for while researching companies to SE?

So far I have been browsing the brands I'm interested in and checking their Refund Policy. I note down any companies that have extended or lifetime warranties, categorize them by type of product, and estimate how hard each company will be. Of course, I won't know until I start with them.
Should I be keeping track of companies that honor exchanges as well? Or who uphold 30+ day refunds which transfer into store credit?

I'm picking up things here and there while reading through the forum but would appreciate any additional information you may have for me

* The time-frame on when a refund/replacement Is Issued.
* The conditions on which a refund/replacement can be Issued.
* How to request a refund/replacement and what's needed to return the Item (example, authorization/tracking number, receipt etc).
* The carrier used.
* Who Is responsible for shipping charges.
* Any penalties (such as refusing acceptance of the Item) If a condition Is not met.
