Repackaging issue #1
Not sure if this comes under SE, But would like some advice.

Recently purchased a circa £1000 drone from DronesDirect. Swapped out just the drone with a very well made fake copy. Same weight also. Repacked perfectly with shrink wrap and returned  for a refund. Got a call from them saying saying they inspected, found the fake, took pictures of everything and sent it back to me as they cant accept it, and that I have to take this issue up with the courier company that i returned it with.

I have narrowed my current options to  4 possibilities:

1)Do not accept delivery, Courier will auto return to sender. Hope for the best that they refund me.
2) Either the above then chargeback the creditcard i paid with, or return and chargeback.
3) Take a profit hit, accept the delivery, put the real back inside and try resell on ebay for as close to original price as possible.
4) Swap the real back in and try refund it back to them. Maybe even say I accidentally sent them the wrong parcel.

I think 3 is my best option. Not keen on 4 as I would basically be admitting to my actions. 1 and 2 seem like a longshot, especially when dealing with a 1k.

Thanks for any advice Smile

no, you can always tell them that somebody might've did it on purpose or it was stolen on the delivery to them or something, just say that you'll talk to their managers ect..

The majority of high-value Items will be Inspected on receipt of goods, so do keep this In mind with subsequent SEs.

Companies keep record of every claim, so your SE with Drones Direct Is just about over.
Try your luck on eBay.

Honestly if it were me I would try 4. They already caught on so they just want their item back, just say it was a mistake. At least you won't have to try and resell that drone.

I have already ordered multiple drones and repackaged successfully from various sites. but only once at each. It has worked so far due to the box being shrink wrapped and the seal being intact, on the box under the shrink wrap. I guess drones direct are just on it. I will for sure just cut contact with them and take a small profit loss on ebay. Better safe than sorry. Thanks :]

Take the positive out of the negative- you now know what "not to do" the next time around.

All the best with eBay.

I agree, 3 is your best option. Since this company is onto you, what's to say once you implicitly admit you're committing fraud they won't pursue the matter. I am curious though, why drones? Are they that popular?

Generally with our forum, I figured this went without saying. However, recent discussion has led me to believe otherwise. People are encouraged to read and follow our rules, especially those regarding illegal content. You have been warned - @Oni

Just what I will do. No point in my process if that just causes me more problems than profit. Cheers Cool

I just found a good supplier of very well made replica drones, of a certain brand and model, that were cheap and well made enough to purchase a few, for my business interests.
