Real Crazy Shit Happened! 12-30-2023, 11:48 PM

Lucky or unlucky?
I have been going crazy with SE's and used many addresses in the same neighbourhood
on one particular company, most went succesfull and will accumulate me a sum of £700 when the items sell on ebay.
I had used an old phone (factory reset) with a pay as you go sim for all the SE's. With multiple email accounts on the device at once. Anyway today I tried the company again and the rep told me he can see 'multiple cases open' on his end on the live chat. He told me they will investigate and contact me as soon as possible. Next thing you know I get an email telling me they are aware of the fraudulent activities I am performing with their service and they will alert 'relevant authorities'. I think the vpn I used was shitty/not working and they could see all the SE's on my end. Well I deleted all the emails and discarded of the sim and phone. I think I'm safe but I used adresses all in same area makes it look way more suspicious. Never used identifying information at any of the addresses.
Regarding another thread:
https://sinister.li/Thread-I-messed-up
Also the university contacted me saying they have found a backpack similar to the one I reported missing. After I visited and showed some proof it belonged to me. I could see laptop wasn't in there but the rest of the items were so better than nothing I guess.

- You used a VPN which logs data and they asked law enforcement for your actual IP address. Your ISP will send everything.
- you using the same phone all the time. The problem here is, every time you purchase, they send out the same Useragent and other unique IDs…
- you always refunded from the same cellular tower, which makes it easier to track you down.
They were already on your ass and now everything backfired. Now they have enough evidence and launched an investigation
You are not fully clear lol, your OPSEC clearly sucks. My advice, get rid off everything fraudulent and throw that phone away.
Or this whole story is a big cap.

I don't support refunding. If not fiction, seems like a case where greed and stupidity meet. I'll respond because it's about opsec.
On your opsec:
- Your laptop is conveniently missing.
- You're underestimating a company's threats.
- VPN can be subpoenaed, depending on locality. No VPN = game over.
- Using addresses in the same area gives an approximation of location.
- Depending on your mailhost, deleting emails can amount to doing nothing.

Approximation on how many SE's that were made in order for this to occur? 50+?

Maybe I said it wrong, but if you get busted and the company have your IP address, even if its a VPN, the company will involve law enforcement. If they found out its a VPN, the law enforcement will ask the VPN provider for the log. Then the police or whatever, will contact the ISP and now they have your real name and everything.
But this goes only for VPNs which log data such as NordVPN and all these shit mainstream VPNs. Even when they say "we have zero log policy" its a lie.

It's been said that Mullvad doesn't:
https://www.techradar.com/news/mullvads-...olice-raid
Clever marketing, at a minimum. Asking if a company has logs is akin to asking if there's an afterlife. If you find out there's logs (or an afterlife), you won't be writing home. Best advice is to go with countries with foreign languages or strict privacy laws.

Thats true, Mullvad does not give any data out. Been reliable for years now. I never had issues with them and I am thankful for their service
I believe they made a statement as well, when the police kicked down their server rooms and could not find anything
Same goes to PerfectPrivacy
But having a look on CyberGhost and ExpressVPN for example claiming they have a zero log policy is a complete lie.
