Quick SE Method To Avoid Signing For A Parcel & Avoid Parcel Being Handed To You. 12-11-2021, 10:11 PM

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but it's my first contribution to the community so I hope it at least helps somebody. It is somewhat unique for people that live in buildings that have Door-Entry systems.
METHOD -
This method works best if you live in a block of flats (UK) or apartments where the only way for the courier to gain access to the building is by buzzing your apartment/flat number via the door entry system.
The reason this is important is because when the courier buzzes your apartment to gain access, you will simply buzz them in without saying a word over the phone. The courier, in almost all cases, will walk into the building without any questions and then knock your door to deliver the parcel. However, you will simply not answer the door. You can even have the shower running to give the impression that you are going to collect the parcel after said shower - this is something you can also say over the phone before you buzz them in if you choose to do so.. For example " I'm in the shower, I need to get to work, Can you leave it outside please? Thank you." *hang up*
What I have personally found from doing this method is that often, but not every time, the courier will just leave the parcel on your doorstep as he believes that you are at home and expecting a parcel. He/she trusts that somebody will collect it simply because somebody is at home.
This makes the DNA method a lot more easier to use, especially if the parcel required a signature and was left on the doorstep. You will be surprised at just how often this actually occurs.
If you live in a house instead then you can use the shower method by shouting at the courier to leave it outside as you are in a rush to go to work and don't want to be late. Again, this works a lot more than you think. Have a sense of urgency in your voice and he will usually comply. I know this SE'ing requires more work than usual but, as stated before, it does help to avoid signing and builds a stronger case for a DNA.
CONCLUSION/TLDR -
As many of you are aware couriers are more likely to leave parcels on your doorstep if they are in a rush. By allowing the courier into your building via the door entry system you give the courier a reason to believe that you are at home - thus encouraging him to leave the parcel at your door when you don't answer your main door.
