Questions about amazon sealed box #1
Sealed box method is usually a go to, but haven't really tried it out in terms of online ordering. plan on doing it on a laptop through amazon so I have a couple questions

1. does gross weight really matter when shipping the return back to amazon? should it be the same weight as it came in?
2. do I have to seal the amazon box it came with also? or is it ok that just the laptop box is sealed to perfection?
3. was planning on acquiring a postal scale to make sure weight is correct, is this necessary?

Obviously the gross weight will be recorded during transit, hence there must not be a significant variance with the original shipment.

Quote:should it be the same weight as it came in?
Yes.

Given you're using the same packaging to send the return, you'll be focusing on matching the Item weight.

The laptop box will suffice but to play It safe, where possible, reseal both.

Every SE'er should have a postal/kitchen scale on hand.

Be sure It's a good quality scale. As such, you'll have peace of mind that It will display an accurate reading.

do you think the odds of checking the inside of the box increases as the price of the item increase? or should they treat it as any other laptop that comes through? (apologies for retyping then deleting this reply then retyping it again lol, screwed up on the quotes)

Generally speaking for the sealed box method, not with an Increase of low to mid value Items.

A significant jump In cost In the high value bracket, will certainly attract attention. It's treated on a case-by-case basis and/or at the rep's discretion. But one thing for sure, be very meticulous when resealing the box with Items of high value.

All good.

its in the 2000 range so this will put the skills to the test no pressure lol, do you personally use the sealed box method specifically for low to mid valued items?

Without naming specifics, I've used the sealed box method on Items worth 3k and It's worked on every occasion. If that value Is doubled, complications are to be expected.
