Pro audio gear/ musical instrument SE from Thomann #1
Hello frens,

has anyone have experience with SEing big music retailers like Thomann in Europe? I presume they are what Sweetwater is in America.

I'd like to SE an MPC because they are awesome. My account is legit and about 6 years old. however I had to return speakers I ordered recently due to them having legitimate issues. Would an SE of a high value item >1k be unwise, since I returned said item recently?

Thank you, bros.

How recent Is "recently?".

Also, did the legit return Involve any complications? In terms of the SE, what method are you planning to use?

Recent as in 2 months ago.
I was thinking of DNAing or saying it arrived with the box tampered with.

I was also thinking of trying sth else though. So one person orders a lower cost item and the other a high value one simultaneously. They must be from the same manufactorer and have a similar name however. Now the guy who ordered the more expensive item claims he got the cheaper version while the other says nothing. I heard that this method often works since internally they know that one expensive item was shipping at a similar time but maybe just to the wrong person.
Human error could play into this SE.
What do you think is best for a larger item which wouldnt work with the missing item method.
An mpc is about the size and weight of a laptop, give or take.

Then It's okay to perform another SE.

The DNA Is fine.

In terms of the box being tampered with, the objective Is for the Item to be stolen In transit, so It must be light enough to not register a weight on consignment.

Are you planning to do It yourself on two separate accounts, and then claim (on one account) that you received the cheap Item Instead of the high value Item?

If so, It's no different to the wrong Item received method.

The missing Item method Is weight-specific, hence the dimensions are Irrelevant.

There are many methods available - wrong Item received, sealed box, obviously the DNA, disposed of the faulty Item etc.

Thanks a bunch, brother. Sorry for replying so late, life caught up with me.
Just a question: I want to do this with a quite expensive but rather small item (1,2k euros)
Would DNA work or would it be wiser to SE an item below 1k instead to avoid having to do a PR?
I heard it's becoming standard having to go thru a pr in europe, regardless of purchase history if the item exceeds a certain amount.

Does anyone know?

A PR may also be requested for Inexpensive Items.

I've personally experienced It with a product < 100$. Do remember that a police report Is simply part of protocol to move forward with your claim.

Gotcha. As long as I am congruent and there is plausible deniability there's not much that could happen right?

The PR Is only needed for administration purposes.

Just wanted to give an update:

The se worked fine. You may have to wait a few weeks but if dna is used it seems they have no other choice but to refund.

Thanks, friends.

Good to read.

Did they Initially try to confirm the delivery based on tracking Information or otherwise?
