Well their gonna ask for a police report if you exceed a certain amount that's why its better to stay below the £390 mark as I found that they check logistics and determine that it was there at that time at that place then ask for the report in order to issue a refund, anything below £350 should be a speedy safe bet refund with not too many questions asked.

If you get to the point where they need a police report, you've been caught, period.

The whole point of social engineering is the SOCIAL aspect. You should be doing more talking than forging documents. They ask for police reports because they don't believe you. What you're doing isn't engineering, it's stealing.

Do not talk to any cops unless you are being physically attacked.

I actually manipulated the local police on a Amazon issue I had... There is nothing wrong with talking to the police, it is what you do or do not say that is important!

The key to talking to police is making certain that YOU ARE ALWAYS IN CONTROL OF WHAT YOU SAY. Don't let them intimidate you to giving more info, and make sure you ONLY GIVE THE MINIMUM NEEDED INFORMATION.
Question: Do you know what time it is?
Answer: Yes. (that's it. you've answered the question, stop now).

Exactly there is nothing wrong with talking to the police because as far as their concerned you are a normal tax paying citizen reporting on an issue, you aren't forging any documents because they will issue the documents and as long as you haven't got that item in your possession to incriminate yourself then you are the victim in the situation and there's no reason why they will go after you.
