Do you mean the merchant? Sorry, I forgot to add that the company added a return label so the tracking will show that I delivered to the correct return address. I think if the company responds saying they got garbage maybe they'll take my word over theirs?

So they gave you a return label you just have to pay for it? Your chances are better then even if it isn't insured.  The odds are best if the company provide the label via PayPal.

It's just a sheet of paper they want to put outside the box which I don't think I should put. Not sure about this though but I feel like it'd be more successful if the garbage I put inside the box can't be traced back to me.

Doesn't matter about the paper, you can put it or not. Even if they respond they received incorrect item. Paypal should side with you for your first claim. As long as it was delivered.
