Quote:All PS3's do use the same size and type of hard drive. You will need a USB external hard drive to backup all of the data from your 250GB hard drive before you remove it from the PS3 Slim. You can then simply move the hard disk drive, to the hard drive bay of the super slim. The super slim will format that hard drive, and then install the System software from a USB storage device. You will then have to restore the backup that you made to the 250GB hard disk again. That is the only way to do it. Even if the flash storage in the super slim was large enough to hold all of your data, which it isn't; the PS3 can only have one internal storage device active at a time. Once you install the 250GB hard disk drive, the 12GB of internal storage is no longer accessible.

The risk is that if the restore of the backup fails, then you can't try it again because you already formatted your original hard drive. You should back up your save data individually to a USB flash drive, or Playstation Plus online storage, just in case. If this seems like a lot of trouble to reuse a 250GB hard disk drive worth $40, that is because it is; but you really should have an external hard drive for backup anyway.

Yes. All you'll have to do is backup everything from your Slim HDD and transfer it onto your Super Slim HDD once you properly install it onto your console.
