Noob MacBook SE methods/stores (UK) #1
As the title suggests I’m a newbie Brit trying to se a MacBook. I’ve never se’d anything though I’ve thoroughly dug myself into a rabbit hole being this forum and have come across and read mothereds guide(s) so I’m familiar with terminology. As there’s various methods I want to know which is the best for the item I want and what stores are the best to use. I was thinking John Lewis or amazon but then again I haven’t got a clue if these are patched or phased out for better stores. Any help?

Welcome to the forum Hundo, glad to have you in our rabbit hole. If you want to SE a Macbook in the UK you could EB Amazon or Apple if you are willing to fill out a PR, if not then those options are most likely off the table for you. Another user round here attempted to SB a Macbook but failed at opening the box properly so just returned it, he posted a lot of detail with pics so you could maybe learn from his mistakes and try SB somewhere that is not Apple or Amazon as they are now wise to the old SB switcheroo.

Cheers for the response, I was contemplating on SB’ing and have read the aforementioned thread regarding the failed attempt so I think I’ll just go with EB. I understand that SE’ing amazon requires aged accounts and considering the £1k+ value of the mac is there a specific previous purchase amount threshold or account age?

It's way too heavy to EB.

The sealed box method Is very effective, but not with Amazon or Argos (In-store) - they both check sealed box returns.

Noted. Is there any particular store I could hit that still don’t check inside? Other than that I have a friend who has a MacBook that genuinely has borderline “exploded” which is documented on video so would it be a good idea to serial method?

Best Buy does not check sealed box returns.

In terms of the UK, I believe Currys operates In a similar fashion.

It's certainly well-suited for the fact that genuine photographic/video evidence can be provided on request, however most companies will expect the Item be returned - which you'll obviously need to circumvent.

Would you be able to SB a macbook from Currys? If so, what do you think the max item price should be?

Are you asking If Currys Is SB'able, or whether I will personally perform the SE for you?
