Just nearly completed a huge upgrade from my old system I was running. My old system had an FX 8320, a GTX 770, 8GB DDR3. Back when it was built, it was modest, but I decided it was old enough and I built this. And the reason I say it isn't finished is because I can't get my 16GB of G.Skill Trident Z RAM working. It hasn't booted in two motherboards so far. I'll be testing it in one more MSI motherboard, and if it doesn't work I'll return the G.Skill Trident Z and buy some Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB. For now I'm using 8GB. Some games crash due to low RAM, but I'll be good for a few days.

On to my specs.

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x16
GPU - Zotac GTX 1070
Motherboard - Asus ROG Strix B450-F
Storage - 500GB SN550 WD NVMe SSD, 500GB WD HDD
PSU - Corsair RM750
Case - Cougar MX330

The GPU was a steal. It was only $230 on eBay and refurbished by Zotac. The prices on GTX 10 series cards are quite high for some reason. They're slowly becoming outdated cards with less capabilities compared to Nvidias 20 and 30 series cards.

Edit: Everything is now in proper working order, and I've updated the spec list to the current specifications of my build.

Here's the exact kit - 2x8 F4320016D16GTZR

I've tried two motherboards so far, and none have even gotten to the POST screen. Both times the RGB has lit up. The first was an Asrock B450 Pro4. It had no LEDs, and the speakers weren't working so I just assumed the board wasn't compatible with said memory for some reason. So then I got the Asus ROG B450-F which is the board I'm using right now. Same story with that motherboard. This one has LEDs, and indicated it couldn't POST because of the RAM.

I have an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max to test out, and if that one doesn't work I'm just going to return the RAM like I said.

The GPU was a steal to be honest. It was only $230 on eBay, refurbished by Zotac. And that's a great price on a 1070. Right now the prices are quite high. Either because the pandemic, or because they aren't being produced as much, or not at all. NVidia is slowly moving on to their RTX line. Considering it's refurbished, I still get great performance and stability.

I'll post pictures when I can on my phone.

i think its just because more people are building their own pc to make the time go faster during the pandemic, i don't think the price would be as high as when everyone wanted to start crypto-mining. At that time, 1080s were selling for around $1k due to how high the demand was, but their priced dropped since.

i'd say you can find a gtx 1080 for $350-400 quite easily, but a 1070 is slight slower but way more affordable, so that was a good pick ig

It sounds like an Issue with the Ram Itself.

I have almost no doubt it's the memory itself. I bought the G.Skill open box along with an open box motherboard that turned out to be dead. So it wouldn't surprise me if the RAM is dead as well. It could also be the Hynix chips. I find it funny that $45 RAM has Samsung chips, and $90 RAM has Hynix chips.

Since I have the motherboard already I might as well try the RAM before sending it back.

if it was me i would try one stick at a time and see if you get post cuz if one is bad the system will not post

I rarely experience Issues solely relating to Ram, but In this case, I certainly agree It's the cause.

I'd be very Interested In reading the outcome.
