My 1 year scuffle with the 2FApocalypse, and a twist 04-04-2020, 05:54 AM

So a little over a year ago Apple started forcing everybody into 2FA for all devices. Like everybody else, I had no idea what my security questions were, and to reset them I'd need to enter some other info (like my birthdate).
Well, the thing is, I made the account well over a decade ago, and had no idea what lie I put in, resulting in a lockout.
So, I spent the last year being constantly (multiple times a day) reminded to enter my icloud password, however doing so simply tells me im locked out.
Finally, I found a buried portal that allowed me to reset everything by using a text sent to my phone. Quickly remapped the google voice number I knew I used and got it unlocked.
So, everything was all good now, right?
Nope. Here's the twist. Apple released 11.3 in haste, and during some of the updates afterwards it has a tendency to fry some of the audio ICs on the iPhone 7 and 7+, mine was among the effected.
This isn't a software issue, it's a hardware one, the chip is dead.
I got ahold of support, they told me they'd fix it for 2-3x the cost of a replacement, prompting me to send an email to Tim Cook.
I actually got a prompt call back from that email, and I was basically told "you're in the software business, you understand how things can turn when they're in the wild" (I might upload that recorded call at some point)
So yeah. I bought a replacement that isn't effected, but seriously, Steve Jobs would have never allowed that to happen.
