I think I narrowed down my problem to my HDD. Now I seem to be losing power to only my HDD. When this actually happens I hear a high pitched noise coming out of the drive, and Windows then slowly starts to lockup. Before the drive was starting to lockup I was able to install Crystal Disk Info. I checked how many active hours there were on the drive, and there are nearly 10,000 on it. And that's enough time for a drive failure.

I'll be cloning my whole drive over to another HDD to give myself some time to buy an SSD. I really hope this solves my problem.

CrystalDiskInfo Is a powerful tool to see exactly what's going on with your drive.

I'm very Interested to read whether the SSD will solve the Issue.

I finished the cloning process about 30 minutes ago. I have everything setup and I'm currently running off of the new HDD. It actually feels slighty snappier than my older HDD, which is a good sign.

The only issue I'm facing right now is a bug in Windows that puts the Recovery Partition before your actual boot partition. And this prevents you from increasing your boot partition size. I've already found a way to fix this though.

I'll provide any updates if they're necessary.

I also managed to corrupt Windows because my dumbass decided it was a good idea to update it. Which even updating Windows ever is a bad idea. Now to try to save myself the time of cloning and defragmenting my disk I'm trying to install a recovery image to repair my corrupted Windows installation on my new HDD. Of course that's not going well at all. I have to jump through a ton of hoops to actually get Windows to recognize the USB.

I should really switch back to using Linux as my daily driver and just keep Windows on a seperate drive for when I want to play a game. I can't deal with Windows anymore. It's such an awful OS.

I've mentioned countless times on this board, to not perform updates and this clearly supports my view/advice.

There's not much else I can do besides hope for the best. I guess I'll be making sure to save my progress on anything that I'm doing until this is fixed.

I certainly understand your frustration, and the need to Identify the cause(s).

On a different note, I was (and still am) experiencing many Issues with my blog and spent countless hours going through the entire HTML/CSS code to no avail. It turns out It's an Issue with the host. I should've known better and to check with them first. My point Is that I "have to" work out what causes Inconsistencies with everything I do- otherwise I'm not at rest.

On-topic, Is your Issue still Isolated to the single device/PC? If so, do you think It may be a problem with the MOBO?

But going back to my original theory about voltage, I'm beginning to think this is the fault of my PSU. I've researched similar problems with other people's computers, and almost every single person said it ended up being a PSU related fault. My current PSU is at least 5 years old which is just on the cusp of the sketchy zone. And I'd like to order a new PSU as soon as possible because a few people said their dying PSU was actually slowly killing components like their GPU and MOBO. So instead of spending $600 to replace my GPU, motherboard, and PSU, I think I'll just get a new power supply.

Let us know if replacing the PSU fixes it. Your logic seems very sound, but I suppose you will only know for sure once you try, right?
