Minecraft being considered for PlayStation, Wii U probably not happening

It has come to light that Mojang are considering even more platforms for the popular PC and Xbox 360 game, Minecraft.

Though Minecraft currently has an exclusivity deal on Xbox, Mojang's Jens Bergensten (Jeb_ on twitter), lead designer on Minecraft, recently told sources that the team will consider PlayStation platforms whenever the deal lapses. Those hoping for a Wii U Wii U version may be out of luck, however, as he added that a port for the Nintendo console is "very unlikely."

Hmmm I don't think PlayStation will get minecraft due to the fact they have minecraft on PC and xBox already. Adding it to PlayStation is just going to be more work that is not really worth doing.

I think they should just keep it on PC and xBox and carry on developing it on them 2.

It's not about work, they have enough capable people to do that conversion for the playstation.
They just have a exclusivity contract with Microsoft, so until that contract ends, there will be no minecraft on the ps.
They will eventually do it as soon as the contract ends.

@GGovan the contract end in about 2-5 years, so it would probably be on the PS4.

Ah nice! I was actually discussing this with a friend earlier today.
The PS4 should handle it beautifully, and I am sure that Mojang will make it avaiable on the ps.

@GGovan it would probably have graphics that are the same, or maybe even better than a pc.

They are just squares ^^
On the pc what usually gets in the way is the memory, Minecraft eats up a lot of memory. I guess that the PS4 would have no problem with that.
And if they could somehow make some special texture packs for the PS it would be also nice.
